Subject: [CR] Telling members about Ebay listings

Not that anyone here really cares about my opinions...

=8-)

But I thought I'd say the following:

Don't know exactly why I feel this way, but in all honesty everytime I see members post notifications of their own eBay listings - I just always seem to find myself thinking, "That is not very professional..."

Sure it's okay according to CR rules and Dale and company, but in light of the fact that what we are using here via the CR listserv is provided pretty much free at someone elses expense, it's kinda as they say over at bikeforums.net:

"Shameless self promotion!"

I personally prefer that someone else find my listing and leave it up to them to point it out to others on the list. This way I don't feel like I am being pushy or taking unfair advantage of the CR crew. An unbiased and uncensored freely operating third party is doing it - not I.

Charles Nighbor is pretty good about persuing eBay and Craigslist and notifying

everyone here of what he finds - including two of my own items in the past year.

(Thank you Charles for helping sell my Zeus collection...)

Just thought I'd throw in my opinion and see what Dale and Co. have to say in response.

=8-)
