Subject: [CR] Buying on the Cheap

I always look at the transaction as my knowledge over the sellers and that the item would be in a better place if it were in my hands. I purchased an original 1920 Coca Cola calendar in mint condition from an antique store for $25 a few years ago. The guy should have known the value since everything else in his store was way overpriced. That same  calendar has a book price of over $5500 today.  Yet some things were purchased due to the seller's desperation. A young man came into the bike shop where I was working and offered to sell me his bike for $400. He said he needed money for a bus ticket back to New York. The bike was a 72 Cinelli SC. Needless to say, the bike now resides in a better place where it is very much appreciated. When I was in the navy, it was common to keep a few hundred in the bank for when young cash stripped sailors would sell the expensive cameras and stereo gear that they had purchased when they were loaded.
