Maybe not a record, but certainly a very respectable price, for a Stronglight 57:

Seller is a CR member, Alex March I believe, so congratulations to him. The model 57, along with model 63, have become pretty rare, and this is very clean example. Not sure if this was bought by a Japanese collector. They usually have strongest interest in touring bikes, and the 122 BCD model 57 wouldn't seem a strictly touring crank. But we've seen Japnese collectors pay big money for racing components on occasion, so maybe they did here.

I watched this auction for a while, but I kind of expected it would wind up way too rich for me. Alex is on a run of late, having sold the much discussed $7000 Colnago a couple of week ago. And he has a number of other very nice items currently on eBay. A few more auctions like these and he can retire early. Alex seems to have great sources for some really nice stuff.
