Hello All:

Bike for sale. Go ahead and debate the pricing, etc, to all your hearts content.

Item number: 280455733025

Proteus 54cm Century Custom Touring bicycle 1978

All this talk about a Sugino Mighty crankset got me to looking, and seeing a bike my size

that doesn't get ridden with a Sugino Mighty and being in the mood for only bikes I ride, none to hang up,

(except for the ones I don't ride and just hang up, like the 74 Paramount, 84 Saronni, and you know the rest of the story)

I decided to put this Proteus out there. I bought from a list member, put a new spoke in the rear wheel to

replace the broken one, put a new rear axle in the sunshine hub, (a good one, cromoly axle)

and put Continental Ultra Gatorskin 27 1/4 tires on the Rigida 13-19 rims. One with sticker,

one without. The Reynolds sticker is screwed up by an uninformed past mechanic, who put

the frame in the repair stand, didn't lift the seatpost to put the repair stand jaws on. you know.

Looks like a nice rider, classic and all that. Enjoy. and please discuss. I know Larry Black has a few

Proteus bikes, but I didn't see one this size or spec'ed this way.

I think I will list the Unvega Gran Turisimo soon, as well. Don't ride that one. Plan on riding my 79 Dennis Sparrow

more next year, putting some nice period correct Phil Wood hubs I just got from another list member on it

in time for spring riding.
