Dear Listers:

I have also been curious about early Eisentrauts as I owned one with a "Turin" brand decal set, bought in the very early 70s. Some fellow listers I worked with at Park West Schwinn in Chicago perhaps remember.

I believe it was a second label Eisentraut, and I bought it through Turin Bike Shop. It was stolen in New York in 1981.

I do remember the frame was a bit out-of-line, requiring some spacers in the BB to align the drive train; and even then it never really rode perfectly straight, which I always assumed was due to its "second label" build.

I also remember at that time we tended to use all Campy except: the new Phil Wood BB and hubs, which were so retro cool then, and Suntour bar shifters (which are better than Campy, and which we sanded down to remove the suntour stamping and streamline the shift handles so we could add Campy hoods!)

Sadly I never took any pics of my Turin "Traut", and I have never seen nor even heard of the mark since then. I was less aware of lug work, seat stay arrangements, etc on frames at that time, and of course now would love to examine this model again!

Any one have one of these frames, or a pic, or even heard of this series of Eisentraut frames?

Thanks
