Anyone remember the sewn on version and not the wrapping tape. I confess I did 2 sets back in the day but can't remember how long to soak?

Help!

About 1982 or so I bought some leather strips that were pierced so that it could be sewn on the bars.

What was the brand and does anyone remember how long the leather was supposed to soak in water?
