I received the Rust Release gel a few days ago, and so far, not so good. It's really good at removing rust stains, but seems to be pretty useless for removing rust spots. I've had the gel on rust spots for about 24 hours now. I've been removing the previous coat (which drys to an almost plastic-like film) and then reapplying every 3 hours or so. Not much progress that I can see.

On the other hand, I have the front rack, decaleur, etc in a stew pot full of Evaporust. They seem to be cleaning up quite nicely. Of course, I may not be around to enjoy the results after my girlfriend sees what I'm doing with the cookware. I didn't have anything else the right size to fit the rack.

Part of the issue with gels is the fact that with the small volumes used, chemical equilibrium will be achieved relatively rapidly. Obviously not something that can be solved, except by removing most of the overt rust with a dental pick before starting.

I'm going to give the Rust Release gel a few days, and then I'll try the Eastwood product. It was remarkable how much of the rust was actually just stains, so I suppose I'm making progress anyway.
