Hi Mark.

I'll start off by saying I'm not a frame builder, so those on the list who know more about this should respond. If you disagree I won't take offense, that's part of learning.

This strikes me as a BAD idea. We have no idea how many miles, crashes, salted roads, eta these lugs have been exposed to. Add to that the stresses of either grinding or torch cutting the old tubes out, and your left with a pretty questionable set of lugs.

Considering the time and skill it takes to construct a hand built frame, it makes no sense to risk all that on some as common and replaceable as lugs. If you do this to satisfy your own interest we would all be interested in the results, but we won't spend money on it.
