Subject: [CR] Cornelo and Mavic SSC questions, now Clemenso-Mavic

First, thanks everyone for pointing out to me the 'French style' braze-on front mech that puzzled me so much. With the Cornelo panto, i got mixed replies, so was still not sure about the make of the frame. Info send to me told me that it might, or might not be a Cornelo panto on my bike.

But then this whole very specific braze-on thing got me thinking. Why would anyone want to do that? I mean, why would a low-countries frame-builder do this? Whats the purpose? The frame has a number tag on the toptube, so I thought lets look for a team (pro or amateur) that used Mavic as component sponsor. There are a few sites with databases that can help a lot. I found Clemenso-Mavic: http://www.cyclingarchives.com/ploegfiche.php?id=5999 Seems logical that the bikes were all Mavic-specific, of which I've only inherited the front and rear gears, the shifters and the bb.

Clemenso was a Belgian made frame, I don't know all that much about them, just remember the name from back in the day. Clemenso bikes pop up every now and then on Dutch and Belgian market-sites. I'll call mr. Benny Brouwer tomorrow, he rode for Clemenso in the early 80s, has a bikeshop now. Unless someone has a 'aha!' erlebnis, and recognizes the panto straight away!
