Mark Bulgier is spot on with what I'm looking for, and his photos are the first I've even seen what it looks like and how the quick disconnect works. Thanks Mark. I am looking for that two piece, threaded end of the quick release/disconnect. I expect it's one of those pieces that people hoard. Well, if anyone may consider letting an extra go, I may have something they're looking for too. I describe my parts bins as being expectant. Please contact me off list if you're interested. I'm hoping not to use the 'S' bend spoke with a cannibalized connector that he also described.

It was a good day to get out for a ride. Happy trails,

As far as I know these were sold from the late 40s through the mid-50s. They let you fix a flat quickly without having to re-adjust the cable length afterward.

I took some pictures of one of mine. Here's a shot of the two pieces apart: http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Sturmey-Archer/Cable-QR/Apart.jpg (use http://tinyurl.com/sturmey-qr-1 if that URL is too long and wraps)

The part I think Dan is looking for is the one on the left in that photo.

Here's two shots of the thing assembled: #1: http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Sturmey-Archer/Cable-QR/Together,top.jpg (or http://tinyurl.com/sturmey-qr-2) #2: http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Sturmey-Archer/Cable-QR/Together,side.jpg (or http://tinyurl.com/sturmey-qr-3)
