My main bike has 584x42 Gran Bois Hetres, and Ioften let them get down below 20psi. I pump them up every month or sowhen I notice that they ride low with a 40lb front load of groceries, but I never get them over 40psi. They ride like a dream, but I weigh140, so your mileage will obviously vary.I did have a bead come unseated once after hitting a family ofraccoons and coming to a dead stop, didn't notice for another milewhen it was rubbing on the fender. This was on a somewhat undersizedVelocity Synergy rim.> Meanwhile, was there EVER a truly great clincher-- and if so, what was it> and who made it? Or is there anything in the pipeline in the way of 27"> combining comfort AND speed that might  compare with the wealth of new 650B> tires (like say the Hetres or the new Kirk Pacentis)?Specialized made some great 27" tires in the past, but the best oneshad kevlar beads and may not work too well on your rims. Avocet madesome terrific ones but they'll be even rarer.Kenda has several models in current production that are sold underseveral brands, the gumwall ones are decent and *extremely* cheap. Notas good as Paselas, but if you've sworn off Panaracer this is yourother option. \u2014 Fred Blasdel in Seattle WA
