Subject: [CR] Campagnolo Rally - Unspeakable Tweak

RE: Campagnolo Rally

The archives are probably rich with Rally chatter. I've gone on record as being a Rally fan here on this list a few years ago. At the same time we spoke of the unbelievable value of a Suntour VGT. I'm currently using three first generation Rallys on 5,6 & 7 speed freewheels. Each has received exactly the same tweak from me, but only after auditioning the NOS examples. Each one improved it's shifting performance with this modification. At the risk of bringing the wrath of the 100% vintage correct members of the group, I will share the tweak here.

Go find an 11 tooth upper jockey pulley that has the floating feature associated with off-topic indexing derailleurs. Replace the upper, keep the stock 10 tooth lower pulley. Don't tell anyone it's a seven speed DuraAce pulley. Enjoy the shifting improvement. http://www.flickr.com/photos/woodstock531/4573516834/in/set-7215762385560328 5/

Or if that's a problem link, start here and look for the Rally photo on the 1969 Holdsworth. http://www.flickr.com/photos/woodstock531/sets/ Please, no flaming. I already know where I did the vintage bending. Sometimes it's about enjoying the ride.

Kind Regards,
