This is a discussion that a colleague & I have had about weight. Just curious; does throwing away a few grams of weight - dust caps, valve nuts/caps, etc. - work better than losing a couple of pounds off of the rider?

I don't use them because they hold in water. Shimano came out with a two hole design that would actually solve that problem.

In my career as a bike mechanic, I've spent some time removing stuck dust caps but never had a problem that resulted from not having them.
