The position of the drive side flange on a rear hub is determined by the "over lock nut dimension" and the width of the freewheel or cassette.
What determines the position of the non-drive side Flange?
I ask because, I'm planning to make my own hubs and don't know what to copy as there are too many options.
Is it better for the flanges to be close so as to "equalize" spoke tension on both sides, or is it better to spread them apart?
