Subject: [CR] Vintage ride from Baltimore to Annapolis & Velo Orange Friday, June 18

An update on the Long Vintage/Fixed Gear Ride on Friday, June 18. Ride Friday to avoid congestion on the bike paths and to accomodate Velo Orange's business hours.

To avoid the long, last (and first) hill, We'll meet and start in the Avalon Area of Patapsco State Park, which can be accessed from most map programs. The ride is projected to start around 9:00 am from the Avalon area, proceed through quiet roads to the BWI airport bike path, and connecting to the Baltimore and Annapolis (B&A) bike path. And a short two mile or so jump into Annapolis crossing the Severn River for lunch at the town dock, with many restaurants and good seafood. Then a fairly urban ride a bit over two miles to Velo Orange to check out their shop. (You may want to have a big seat bag for carrying back goodies)

The route is reversed and we head back. Another starting point for those who don't wish to do the extra miles is Marley Station Mall, which borders the trail and is about 16 miles into the ride. The round trip to the Annapolis town dock is approximately 28 miles. You could start at ten and head north to meet us. The route is virtually flat so it's a great fixed gear ride, an easy metric for those who do the whole ride and we should set a good pace. Scenery is nice with a bit of urban rolled in, but you'll be away from cars for much of the ride.

Please contact me off list to join us. The more the merrier. We'll hammer out all details and provide contact information. All who rode last year used toeclips & straps & were similarly sized, and we did a bit of bike swapping. And the folks at Velo Orange couldn't have been more welcoming. I'll provide more details for the vintage ride from our home on Saturday, July 10 as that date gets closer.

Happy trails, and looking forward to seeing friends at Cirque.
