Hey John, Thanks, I had gathered about the different functions of the different Paramount models including the P15 being touring with the triple chain ring, but with no brakes or decals, much of the information is lost. That leaves us with only the geometry, lugs, serial number, and mounting holes.
>From the 1961 and 1962 catalogs I found on line it seemed the P-10 and P-12 had Nervex lugs, but they were not chromed in the photos. While the 1962 mentioned only the P11 (Tourist), P12 (Road Racer), and P14 (Track) Paramounts, the 1963 catalog mentioned the P-13 for the first time and showed the chromed Nervex head lugs, so that is where I got the idea the chrome might signify the "Deluxe Paramount Road Racer". Other than the components, what would the frame set show differently for the 1963 (Deluxe Road Racer) P-13?

Thank you,

Hi Jon,

It is not a P-13 designated by the head lugs (Nervex). P-10, P-13 and P-15 were frameset designations in the late 60's through the mid 1970's. P-10 was the touring frameset, P-13 was the full blown race frameset (symbolized with Campagnolo Nuovo Record brakes as a stock brakeset installed, tubular tires and no fender eyelets on the front and rear) and the P-15 was the touring model with a triple front crankset and a long cage rear derailleur. Jon, I wish Bob Hufford did not remove his wonderful Schwinn website. Your frame is a 1963. If it is indeed the blue color of 1964 (I don't know if Schwinn used the same blue in 63 as 64). We have an original 1964 sky blue Paramount P-12 (except the previous owner that put the extra seat tube decal on). If you would like us to send you some pictures tomorrow we will. Jon, it is my most favorite bike we own. We called the blue when we were young "electric blue" and we lucked out when I found the bike. The previous owned pasted all kinds of ugly ridiculous decals all over the bike. Please remember Jon the chrome head lugs make it a Nervex frame with chrome head lugs. I am not trying to sound like a smart aleck, but that is actually the truth. Your frame is the size of ours also. The frame rides like a Cadillac of all bikes that I have been on. I will send you some pictures tomorrow. We successfully painted one of these and I gave it to my cousin in Waco, Texas for Christmas one year several years back. I asked a Schwinn dealer how they were able to get the paint to jump out and just glow. The undercoat is a high in metal flake content silver and the blue is dusted on. The silver shines through on both the sky blue and campus green. We are very fond of Paramount here so if you are looking for some friends who can help you, welcome aboard!

I just purchased a frame and fork said to be a 1963 Paramount. Here is the ad: http://ebay.com/<blah> http://ebay.com/<blah http://ebay.com/<blah &item=260611948745> &item=260611948745

It states: "Serial number L55 appears on the frame and on the fork. Translates to early 1963" It seems he may have gotten that from this: http://www.waterfordbikes.com/site/company/para_dating.php which shows L## as being consistent with October 62 I searched the CR archives and found this post by Bob Hansen: http://search.bikelist.org/getmsg.asp?Filename=classicrendezvous.10 610.0758.eml titled in 2006 as: [CR]For Sale: 1962-63 Paramount Frameset <http://search.bikelist.org/query.asp?SearchString=%22For+Sale%3A+1 962%2D63+Paramount+Frameset%22&SearchPrefix=%40msgsubject&SortBy=Ms gDate%5Ba%5D> I would think it may be the same frameset except this one is a 23" and Bob's was a 21".

Bob or anyone, can you guys verify that this is likely to be a 63 Paramount? Other than not having any paint, do you see anything 'wrong' with it?

The chrome head lugs make it a P-13, correct?

Many thanks!
