Also, a note about closing function; I have experienced with Record Q/Rs that the threaded part of the lever must be inserted through the correct side of the hole in the skewer head (the metal block that goes inside the cam end cap). If it goes through from the wrong direction (which is difficult to see without trying it), then function is compromised. I've never taken a Nuovo Tipo assembly apart before, but this might be something to look for and sample.

(Marcus, let me know when you want to come look at the brake cable clips.)

Marcus, the spring is only intended to keep the lever from flopping to the

"closed" position during a wheel change.

I can't say for sure why it's not found in a Record QR, but it would add weight, plus the presumably more-experienced Record customer might have less of a need for it(?).
