With the recent talk about Peugeot Mixtes I've been getting the itch to build one for a fun around town bike. Yesterday I found one locally on Craigslist that called to me like a pound puppy so I brought it home. As near as I can tell it's the same (but maybe earlier) bike as item No. 170499737571 currently listed on Ebay (same color, parts group, head badge, etc.), but mine has full chrome fenders, lights and a generator. The seller said the tires are original, but they are dry rotted. The serial number is 1535606 so it may be earlier than the Ebay twin.
To make a long story short this is probably more of a project than I'm looking for and a good nights sleep has brought me back to reality. The bike is all there, the paint is a little rough and there is some seat tube cracking just below the clamp (but rideable as is). I'm in this for a grand total of $15 and at this point I would be happy to just recoup my cost. If you have a similar bike and need brakes (Mafac Racers), hubs (Normandy), pedals (Lyotard), cable fittings, etc. I would be happy to send as much or as little of the bike as you could use. Or, if you're up for a project the whole bike is up for grabs for the same $15 as long as you cover shipping and packing costs. Needless to say I'm looking for the easiest option on my end so I can't spend hours tearing the bike down, but it would be nice to see a few parts get another bike back on the road if not this entire bike. Feel free to drop me a note if you have any interest. Or, plan a weekend in Vegas soon and soothe your gambling loss by taking this bike home and getting it back on the road. The same (but nicer) bike on Ebay is at $237.50 with two days left and eight bids so $15 seems like a deal to me.
