Subject: [CR] WTB: 56-57cm "Project" Touring Frame

Hiya Gang, A few cycling buds have started planning short, local summer tours.   3-5 day trips with  camping gear, etc.  I'm afraid I'm already tardy for the party but I'd LOVE to scrap something together to join them.  I am in search of a late 70's-early 80's touring frame in pretty much any condition.  Something Japanese (RB-T, Miyata 1000) would be great, but something American (along the lines of a Medici Gran Turismo/Merz/Isaac/Gordon/Trek) would be FANTASTIC.  I am not opposed to doing some minor repair work (replacing a drop out, broken canti boss, eyelet, etc.) or even building a fork should you have a "project" frame kicking around that fits the bill. I'd love it to have canti bosses and eyelets for fenders and racking.  Ideal frame size is a 56cm c-to-c, but I am flexible if something comes along. Basically, I haven't much $$$ but I have lots of love and mileage to give to a frame with some "mojo".  If you think that 70's California/Oregon made touring bike would be happier with Jim Blackburn racks and Eclipse/Kirtland panniers, dust covered and leaning on a tree in the Hudson River Valley than it would be hanging in your garage, please let a brother know!

Muchas Gracias,
Matthew Bowne
