I like Dave Provine's suggestion of using acetone!

REMA also makes their own fast evaporating "Pre-Buff" cleaner for removing surface contamination from a punctured tire. Seems to work well and a single 1 quart (.9 liter) tin lasts for years so the high initial cost is ultimately fairly reasonable. I've had this same can for several years.
