Subject: [Classicrendezvous] RIP.....Moratorium Announcement

Dear friends of the Classicrendezvous,

I have finally reached the point in my current business dealings where it is neccessary to place a moriturium on FRAME orders. My backlog at the moment is at the point that I do not wish to extend my framebuilding obligations beyond the present amount.

I will however accept PAINT and RESTORATION projects for the duration of time it takes to build the frames on order, approx. one year. I will also be "cleaning house" of any stray projects during this time.

I hope this announcement doesn't catch anyone by surprise, but you can't say I didn't warn you. The possibility that the moritorium will be lifted at some point in the future is about 10 to 20 percent.

My plans for the future (past the one year) are undetermined but I am reasonably certain I will not give up framebuilding as an artform, but I will most likely not revert back to the conventional ordering process. I imagine if I engage in building a frame for someone in specific that it will involve some sort of BRIBE to do so, otherwise I will build what my own tastes dictate. I know that framebuilding is too dear to me to stop completely, brazing flux and metal filings flow in my blood. But there comes a time in many peoples lives when a change is neccessary; I have arrived at that point.

It has been my extreme pleasure to be part of the framebuilding community and to have served all of my friends and customers for the past 27 years. I hope that my legacy will reflect that I never deviated from that which I believe in and never "chased the market" or considered a compromise in my craft.

It's not good-bye just yet, but the timer is ticking.

Brian(tears streaming)Baylis
