I agree with Richard in that I never believed that true Record sets were used in those bikes. They actually were not that light either, they were decently light but not THAT light!... But it certainly was batted around everywhere that that "Colnago was using Record tubing" in that model. There is a lot of Bologna in Italy (and other places!)
The Record stuff was so light and delicate that they later came out with "KL" which I believe was only made as long as Columbus' more recent disappearing act, Metax, ie 2-3 years. The KL was supposedly Record with butted ends (0.8 mm?) It was also hard to work with and we had a few McLeans built with it and felt it was for riders 140 lbs max!
