I have a "BeBe" Saronni frame that Ochsner told me was built by Colnago. I bought it new in 1980. It has a picture of world champion Saronni on the head tube. By the way, it hasn't been built up in years, and one of my winter projects is to build it up with a 1984 campy record/ super record group that I recently acquired. I do need a set of Campy record downtube friction shifters to finish the project.
The Saronni frame was supposedly built with Columbus Aelle tubing. Evidently a cheaper guage of Columbus. This was a very quick handling bike in my memory and I loved it but ignored it while I was riding a whole series of other bikes. Mostly from brands I was selling. Cannondales, Schwinns, Treks and Specialized. It is only fitting that I plan on riding the Saronni next season in rotation with some other bikes including a 74 Paramount.

Hello! I am trying to find out about the Colnago Mexico bike of the early 80s. I have a deep red frame with crimped top tube and down tube. It is NOS and I'm building it up to a complete bike and am hoping someone will be able to fill me in on some history of the machine. I have a picture of Giuseppe Saronni riding a bike just like the frame I've got, but can't find out much more about him either! Please feel free to email me. Thanks!
