I use something like ArmorAll, in particular, stuff called "303" which was sold to me by REI for preserving latex dry suit seals. Does not fix cracks, for which someone on the list recommended trying latex sew-up wall preserving stuff. I have not tried that.

The 303 seems to make things more flexible and comfortable, but it is not night-and-day. I keep a secret collection of spare Weinmann hoods in a ziplock bag, kept damp with the stuff. May or may not work.
