Subject: [Classicrendezvous] Heliocomatic "Innards"......

Afternoon Folks,

All this talk about Helios prompted me to go into the shop and dissamble the three which I own: (2) are probably the "highest" end Helios, and the other is low-mid grade: And the results are: The high end hubs have 3/16" brngs on both sides!! The lower end hubs have 5/32" both sides! They also have totally different sizes of lock nuts (16mm vs. 18mm) - nothing standard about the French! BTW, the high end hubs utilize the "Sealed Mechanism" device which was recently brought up in a discussion.

Now for Galli: I have a set of Galli Pros/Comps(?) on a Marinoni and find no reference to Simplex (as I easily can with Gipiemme). In addition, I have many Simplex derailleurs, and can really see no similarity to what they have constructed vis-a-vis the Galli product............The "search" continues!
