On the subject of rebadged derailleurs, there are a couple others from
the era that are worth mentioning. The Simplex Super LJ's found their
way to another company in relabeled form, too. This time over the other
border into Switzerland where they were offered in the EDCO gruppos. The
only version of rear that I have ever seen in EDCO drag was the SLJ
6600.
Also, with the discussion of the Regina/ New Success derailleurs, I
guess that it should be said that the Sachs New Success derailleurs
became the successor to Simplex in the multiple personality disorder
category. With the advent of indexed shifting and the demise of Simplex,
Edco incorporated the New Success derailleurs- re-badged of course- into
their gruppos. The New Success also appeared for a period of time in the
Miche lineup. Not a bad record, but not quite the travelling record of
Simplex.
I have often wondered if some of these companies in this era sold more
produst under other names as opposed to their own. The other company
with a similar record that comes to mind is Modolo in the brake
catagory.
