Subject: [Classicrendezvous] Re: Nishiki/Colnago/First Post to List

How timely that this should come up-I've got one in my garage and was thinking about asking the same thing! BTW-this is my first post to this list-I've been lurking for awhile and have had a lot of fun reading about bikes I lusted after in my youth. My name is George Handy and I live in Arlington,Texas (Hi Scott McCaskey). About my bike-I bought the frame in 1984 from Ron Greene at Lewisville Bicycle Center in Lewisville,TX. I remember the frames in his shop a few years earlier than that when I was a student at North Texas State Univ. in Denton. I have heard the Colnago story from two different sources-when I bought it, and I remember one for sale possibly in VeloNews that said the same thing. Anyways, it looks identical to a Colnago Super of the same vintage, except for the chrome on the Colnago. The model on the Nishiki is 'Maxima', and has a Columbus sticker and a "Made in Italy" tag on the seat tube. I bought the frame without a fork, so I don't know what it was like. Anyways, the Colshiki is a great ride, and I've been enjoying it for 16 years now! Bike is presently equipped with 8-speed Ultegra STI. I would be happy to supply any more info on my bike it interested. Hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving! George Handy-
