Ah, yes.... I remember a guy a college racing on one of those. He was from California, brought the pantographed Bianchi and a "Nuovo Blue" Colnago with him to school. The celeste Almarc leather covered bars were gorgeous... I wished I could afford that bike!

Other bikes in Oxford included an aluminum Alan Record with Huret Jubilee derailleurs and the first radially-laced front wheel I'd ever seen, another Alan with Zeus campy-copy gruppo, a "BMW Black" (very very dark grey) Pinarello pantographed Super Record with gold Pelissier hubs (the hub bearings failed after only a few months riding!), a burgundy Guerciotti pantographed Super Record, TI Raleigh Team Pro, various top model Peugeots, Raleigh GS, my Saronni-red Colnago, and a green Richard Sachs.

There was also a yucky orange-green Legnano with cottered cranks and old steel Campy derailleurs. We always had a good laugh when that guy rode by. I wish I could find that bike now!

There were some beautiful bikes on the starting line back in the early 1980s.
