I had always thought that the "winged C" insert in the 1-R only came about with all the other "new-logo" Cinelli stuff in about 1982. More recently I have seen some old "Milano-in-ellipse" logo 1-R's with the "winged C" in the front. I have seen more than one, and generally have reason to think that they came that way, rather than being swapped out at some point. So the correct stem for 1980 may be an old logo 1-R with the "winged C", as opposed to the "winged-C" logo stem with "winged C" insert.
