Jerry,
My Singer, an audax/randonneur style bike, has the lamp on the
left, non-driveside, as well as the generator on the rear tire.
However, on my Herse Gentleman, the lamp sits perched on the right
side of the front carrier while the generator remains on the left.
In both cases the lamp is designed to tilt ever-so slightly downward
to the road.
I've seen them both ways on bikes by both builders. No idea why.
