Subject: [Classicrendezvous] Mafac Competition Straddle Cable

Ladies and Gentlemen -

I seek an early series Mafac Competition straddle cable, the thingy that connects the two arms of a centerpull brake.

Now, this is more complicated than it seems. You may remember, but I just learned, that there were two, count 'em, 2 (or more) different Mafac Competition brake sets. The one I am looking for has one end that looks like a derailleur cable a cylinder with the long axis parallel to the cable (like a Suntour barcon, not like a Huret), but smaller diameter (about 3.5 mm diameter). The other end has a little paddle to grab to release the straddle cable.

The other (later) Mafac Competition uses a double barrel-end cable much like a Weinmann. Don't need those.

Wouldn't have known the difference except for having two pairs enter my life -- and one pair had a broken cable.

thanks
