Anyone noticed that you can no longer view the list of email addresses of bidders during an eBay auction? Just noticed this today. The procedure is pretty stupid, since you can still view the addresses by clicking on each bidder individually. The canned explanation is about protecting bidders from SPAM, including offers to sell similar items. I suspect eBay's real agenda to to discourage transactions on which they don't collect a fee. I usually check emails to avoid bidding against other list members on something I have only a moderate interest in, while they may really need it. Also, if it's an old French part and several bidders have addresses ending in .jp, I know this has aroused Japanese collector interest, and that I am probably wasting my time unless I am prepared to pay a very high price. Making the procedure more difficult is just one more way eBay is serving their own interests at the expense of users.
