That's the earliest America I've seen and really does look like ca. '72-74.
Fujita saddles always remind me of this story: Kid comes into Bike Gallery
around 1980 and buys a Fuji S10S that was on sale. It was equipped with a
B17 style Fujita saddle. He and his dad go to the library and get some
1940's cycling book with instructions on breaking in a leather saddle.
Maybe misreading the instructions, they boil the saddle in a big pot for
several hours; maybe a New England chef wrote their bike book! They later
bring the remains into Gallery for our amusement, they're laughing about it
too, and buy an Avocet saddle for the bike. The remains were a saddle frame
with a few shreds of leather still riveted to the nose and tail.
