David:

Last Saturday at 2:12 I posted a query about this derailleur because I wondered whether the pulley cage was original.

The circa '77 1st generation SR had a pulley cage like the NR, where the axles of the two pulleys and the pivot bolt are roughly in line. The 2nd generation SR had a pulley cage like the one shown in the auction, where the upper pulley is offset backwards.

It looked funny, but it occurred to me that campy might have made a hybrid at some point.

At that time, the bidding was around $300.

No one replied to my query, but the value seems to have dropped somewhat sharply since then, heh heh.

It is now inferred that in the opinion of the bidders such a hybrid is not a genuine item.

I was watching this auction with interest, and when I noticed it had closed today.... There has to be an inside story here. Anyone know what happened?
