You might consider taking the original parts off and building the frame up with used stuff for riding. You can put lots of miles on a frame without too much wear and tear as long as you don't crash it...and there's always that chance! I had a Guerciotti several years back that I rode about 10,000 miles before selling . The wheels, saddle, and drivetrain sure showed the wear, but the frame looked really nice. It didn't look NOS, but very very good. My commuter bike at the time with way less miles looked MUCH worse due to the wear and tear on the paint from locking it up to poles and bike racks all the time. The Guerciotti was only used for training type rides and was never crashed, well, not too hard anyway! Just my .02...
