It's been pointed out to me that language difficulties might not be limited to list members either side of the Atlantic. This may well be true.
In Guatemala, for instance, the word "Masi" is an adjective used to describe sexually dysfunctional males and translates as "Doesn't ride very well".
Ca m'pag n'olo in Indonesian, meanwhile is a derogatory term and refers to flashy people who are a triumph of style over substance. Local people say that with these types, once you've stripped away the polished exterior, what you find underneath is pretty ordinary.
Amazingly, the terms Flying Scot and Chater Lea are in widespread use in many foreign countries but always mean the same thing, "A level of performance and engineering unattainable in Italy".
