Hi Kevin,

Seller's remorse is one of my family's favorite topics! My Old Dad is incapable of selling anything, for fear of needing/wanting/missing it for the next fifty years!

The picture over our fireplace wasn't some family collage, or oil painting of great-great-great-grandsomebody, or even a landscape with sheep and hills and Elvis impersonators... it was a painting of a dark green 1937 Packard V-12 Club Sedan, which My Old Dad sold for downpayment for our house.

My Old Dad would sit for hours just staring at the picture. He'd underline all the adverts in Hemmings Motor News which pertained to anything Packard V-12. He'd buy any book or magazine which had a picture of one.

I learned later from one of My Old Dad's friends that this behavior began in his childhood... they used to go downtown to the Packard dealership, and My Young Dad would sit outside on the curb and just stare at the new Packards in the showroom. Occasionally they'd go inside and talk to Dr. J.S.Barton about the new cars, sitting on the running board, their images reflected in the hand-rubbed lacquer. It was a big green mirror, or a dark blue mirror... always a properly-conservative color.

Kevin, as far as your recent purge is concerned, the NOS Anniversary gruppos are nice to hold, pretty to see, and more common than everyone likes to think! I'd write a little note to each child as they graduate college, mentioning how nice it would be if they'd all pitch-in for a "thank-you for college, Our-Old-Dad" gift...

The 6 NOS Super Record gruppos should make 6 other collectors happy. Ghibli wheels are only valuable above 30MPH. And, of course, a bikes is a bike is a bike. You'll trip over some other interesting iron... probably sooner than you think!

Everything has a price, plus tax, and occasionally remorse.

Regards, Aldo "+3 degrees and sunny in Ohio" Ross
