The 1980 Gippiemme catalog lists these groups, high-end to low-end:

Cronospecial (FD, RD, shifters, pedals, seatpost from the 'Special' group) Special Sprint

Some differentiating features:

Cronospecial large chainrings had cutouts around ring; arms marked "Special". Cronospecial had Al alloy HS; Special had chromed steel HS. Cronospecial hubs had ground races, black QR nuts.
