Hi fellow listees.

My frame no is 1003 which is from october 1950. An Ephgrave No 1 It has the earlier Swallow tail lugs rather than spearpoints. (the Scan on the CR web site of Malcom Kings road path Ephgrave shows the spear point style lug) Dale is yours a super No 1 ? with the cut outs in the lug?

Let me know what the frame no is I can then try to date it for you.

Does it also have the frame no stamped onto the steerer tube? Mine does.

Les Ephgrave wasn't above making mistakes. (who is) my frame was originally stamped 1002 but he changed his mind and re stamped it 1003 on the BB shell. Also on one of the head lugs he made a small mistake when cutting the lug and there is a small witness mark where the abrafile over shot !!! I find this stuff facinating.

I know that Mark Stevens has a brace of Ephgraves I wonder what their serial No's are???? Mark prehaps you could enlighten us ??

Either way the Ephgrave is and always will be a special machine and I feel lucky to be it's custodian for a little while.

Cheers,

John

Ps: anybody got any Marcel Berthet Pedals for sale???
