This name has been bandied about just lately but I have to admit to almost complete ignorance regarding them. Time to rectify that!
I'm assuming that Maxicar was the manufacturers name. Did they come in different quality levels? If so, how would someone differentiate? Is it still possible to service them? Is there anything to look out for?
The reason that I ask is that I've just been offered a bike (a Bertin, I haven't seen it yet) with what sounds like a nice component package including Maxicar hubs. The component mix doesn't sound like it was original but that doesn't worry me.
Any direct information or pointers to information on the web would be appreciated.
