One wonderful "classic" thing these folks do is Barbers Pole on the seattube. Something about that just . . . something. . . I've convinced others that this is a fine reason to buy Mercian by itself. This whole Mercian/Heron debate is something I've been doing with my friend Ivor who was thinking about a Heron before I showed him the Mercian. He is replacing a Bstone RB-1 that never really fit. For him the custom sizing really is the ticket to a new frame since he works for The Missing Link in Berkeley and can get a "pro-deal" on many bikes. The custom fit is the reason I'd send anyone to Mercian, heron are very nice bikes and I think the nicest thing that comes out of the Waterford factory but it's still "stock"sizing.
