KEN TODA,

Born in Kobe, Japan '52, grew up in Osaka. Came to US in ''71. Amateur road racer 69 to 70, who could not afford fine imported racing bike components.

All three childrens of ours bought MTB from Cycle de Oro at least twice, BUT I bought 1978 Raleigh Pro., because my old Katakura Silk (toei) built in 68 was stolen.

Last 7-8 years, our web master helped me to restart passion for old road racers. 65ish Paramount, 70's Roberts and Mondia, 72 Raleigh Pro, and several lower grade Schwinn, and Raleighs from 80's.

I have been in photography/photofinishing business last 21 years, bur not an expert in computer/digital imaging.

Last 25 years, Japanese parts had achived such great progress as almost catching up to the Campagnolo, but my recollections in late 60's are cheap/inferior copy of western European imports in Japan. I see why number of Japanese buyers are paying such high prices in ebay for older parts, one; the YEN currency worth 3 times more than 1971, as I was one of them, they could NOT afford fine REAL parts at that time. They are buying back thier dream as I have been doing in the same way.

With my American 2 cents.

KEN TODA, over the hill (down hill) rider in North Carolina, bit warmer in 50's.
