Awright - I'll jump in here and add to the datapool.

51 years young Cycling for 27 years, not counting kid bike daze Led a Bikecentennial Transamerica Trip 1976 Began career in Bike Biz 1977

I'm not clear exactly which of my bikes fit the list and which don't, so here goes:

'20-something British Roadster of unknown make, wood rims and single tubes '38 BSA Roadster, 28" wheels with rod drum brake 3-speed '40-something Rudge, currently with 5 speed derailleur setup, cantis, 650B wheels '62 Paramount P-10, with 27" wheels, inch-pitch fixed, and fenders '63 Schwinn American 2-speed, purchased NEW, all original '65 Paramount track, with inch-pitch, all Campy original (except the inch-pitch) '72 Paramount P-13, all original Campy with upgrade Campy brakes '73 Paramount P-15, all original Campy with upgrade Campy brakes '78 Davidson Touring, Campy and Phil Wood '79 Davidson Road Racing, Campy '81 Homebuilt MTB, made from Reynolds tandem tubing '82 Davidson Tandem, Campy and Phil Wood '83 Jack Taylor Supertourist, 650B wheels, Campy with Dia Compe Cantis '80-something Jack Taylor Supertourist, 700C wheels, mix including cantis and rear drum brake '85 Davidson Impulse #1, with Dura Ace 6-speed '87 Davidson Signature, with Dura Ace 7-speed '87 Davidson Racing tandem, Dura Ace 7-speed, 35 lbs '88 Davidson lugged-frame mountain bike, XT '88 Kestrel 200 EMS with Dura Ace 7-speed, hot pink with matching zipp 3-spokes '89 Trevor Jarvis Flying Gate, Built for me but shown at York Rally that year, flambouyant red and chrome with ornanate lugs. All Campy NR. '92 Davidson Signature, mix of ultralite stuff to get it under 16 lbs '97 Davidson titanium road bike, all 70's-vintage Campy, with custom triple, long-cage NR, and 130-spaced high flange hubs. '99 Davidson titanium racing tandem, Dura Ace 9, 28 lbs

What makes a classic bike? I think most of these are classic in their own right. Some are also vintage, and all will be some day, but none are cookie-cutter bikes in the sense of most bike-store bikes these days.

Bikes I wish I had: 1938 Paramount that I have worked on many times, and now rests unridden in the basement of the widow of its owner. '50s Carlton Flyer and '65 Taylor tandem with 650B wheels in same basement. She won't sell. 22" Curly Hetchins of the Denny era. 1982 Alberto Masi and Jack Taylor curved tube I sold to Dave Martinez.

Talk about Geezers - My dad still comes on my week-plus Ultratours at age 80. Last year he rode his age (79 miles) one day, and 340 in 6 days. He rides a custom Davidson touring bike with Campy Omega Aero wheels and Moustache bars.
