Thanks Bob, I was hesitant to add another reponse to such a lengthy thread. I had previously talked with a couple of list members trying to identify this bike, thanks to Joe B-Z and Chuck for their input. Dale and I had been pursuing it as a New York area frame due to comments the original owner supposedly made. But we feel it could also be of British origin. I have wanted to get opinions from that side of the pond also.

I'll give a description here and try to get photos to Dale's mystery bike section of his site in a timely fashion.

The frame is Reynolds 531(Dale's opinion) Nervex Pro lugs,Wagner crown,Campy drop-outs, no chrome, no eyelets, pencil thin seat stays, braze-ons include Raleigh style cable housing stops for brakes and ders., pump pegs on the down tube, and the campy downtube shifters were clamp-on that had been modified and brazed on. File work at braze-ons was quite rough. Fork rake is sixties style with generous bend down low.

Paint, what was left was dark blue with red pinstripes at Nervex lugs. Also the seatstay caps had markings that could be best described as a cross with two horizontal bars. No decals remained.

Equipment that was still present: the aforementioned Stronglight/Simplex cottered with correct hollow axle BB(British threads), Ambrosia bar and stem, CLB Racer brakes, B-17(dated 1960),Reynolds aluminum seat post,Campy GS front, Valentino rear, front Campy HF hub with no Record, dated 1960 also.

When Dale and I removed the BB at CDO, we found to our delight that the bearing shield had been made from a portion of a Brampton chain box, which included an image of a chain and a rider. Talk about your time capsules!

Okay folks, "What kind of bike am I?"
