One prominent German brand was Bauer. I think the world road championship was won on a Bauer in the 50's or 60's (1955?). The guy I bought my first lightweights from, Heinz Linke in Lakewood, OH (several other list members knew him) was a retired German-American aerospace engineer, who had a couple of old Bauers, both road and track models. I seem to remember at least one was dark red and had a decal talking about the World Championship. Pretty sure they were full 531, well made with at least some chrome. Don't know much else about them.
