This is very similar to how they were setup in my area (NorCal) during that period. I remember Don Milberger (Bicycle Research Products) having one with "stupid-lite" parts like the Nyflor headset, etc. Stem and post may have been milled SR, but they were definitely milled. Plastic saddle sans padding/cover, Hi-E "slow releases," and either Jubilee or Cyclone mechs.

Man, I miss that shop that Milberger ran. Nothing like being a bike geek at age 10 and walking into a store with Campy chainrings on the wall in in every available size... That was the store where I got my first shoes (DP Coppi 7's), shorts, and jersey.
