I bought a Trek 728 (new) in the early spring of 1983. I had always believed it to be model year 1982. Is it a 1982, or were the 728s only made in 1981? The frame is 22.5" Taupe w/brown panel color. Long Campy dropouts (1010?) with threaded adjustment pins, 531 throughout - (main tubes, stays and fork), Cinelli BB shell, double eyelets front and rear. Great shape, great paint (original).

It's equipped with Huret FD and RD (Duopar), Suntour ratchet bar-end shifters, Suzue "sealed bearing" hubs, Rigida 700c rims, SunTour 6sp FW, SR LaPrade fluted post, Avocet Touring II saddle, Cinelli Giro d'Italia bars, Cinell stem, GranComp centerpull brakes with the little "pulley wheel" on the straddle cable, GranComp levers (smooth, not drilled), Sugino AT triple crank, SunTour Superbe pedals, Christophe clips with the leather covering on the toe end. Upon purchase I had it set up with half-step plus granny shifting - 26-45-50 chainrings. Wide range FW cogs selected from the cog board to suit half-step.

It still runs well with the original housing and cables (I'm fanatic about keeping it clean) and I still take it out for a spin now and then. Also has the 1982 (?) CatEye Velo CC-1000 Cylo Computer that looks like a little tv. Was this CatEye's first?

Looks almost new, and runs as good as new. I'm not interested in selling it, but I was wondering what it would be approximately worth on the open market??? For those of you from southern New England, I got it from Ken Caster's shop in Warwick, RI.

Thanks for any info.
