Wow what a list, almost prescient in its posts. My favorite LBS has an old(?) set of wooden rims which I have been coveting for some time. I just want to hang them up in my office with unglued sewups as a curiosity. Fact is I know nothing about these rims (I heard that--"or much else").

This set was purchased from another LBS that went under in '91. I suspect that they were a specialty item NOS from the late 70's -- 80's. I'll have to check the labels for brand. They are 100% wood, no metal brake face surface. The shop guy who is pretty knowledgeable former racer in his late 30's, supposes that they were 'pista' rims. That may have been the case but I quake at the thought of the stresses which might be applied in that application.

Anyone have some insights. This is truly a CR thread!
