Personally, I have no problem with a posting that's off-topic as long as
the original posters says something like, "I know this is a bit
off-topic, so please respond only privately so as not to clog up the
list." Put another way, I don't mind reading one message off-topic, and
I understand that the gathered folks here represent an excellent
resource for things other than classic lightweights, but it's an entire
ongoing thread off-topic that I'd like to see us avoid. I don't know if
my suggestion will pass muster with our Fearless Leader.

I believe there are at least seven newsgroups under rec.bicycles, and
you might want to see if any of the others interest you, including:
> If there¹s others, please pass them along.
news:rec.bicycles.rides news:rec.bicycles.off-road && shows 0 msgs on my news server news:rec.bicycles.soc news:rec.bicycles.racing
Please also allow the English Professor in me to correct a bit of grammar, even if such a thing is off-topic <sheepish grin>:
"If there're others..."
would be correct - "if there _are_ others," not "if there _is_ others."
Many thanks, Roy, for being understanding.
