Hi Mike, I just went through this with a Dura Ace aero post. I used 400 grit wet/dry paper wrapped around the post, and under slowly running water, rotated the post back and forth. Adjust the pressure as you see fit. Result was the original satin finish. You may need to follow with 600 or 800. Finished with grade 00 steel wool, same direction as the paper.
Touched up the logo with black paint. Post looked almost new.
